  • What kind of organization is CAMBA?
CAMBA is a nonprofit social club organized under section 501(c)(7).
  • Is CAMBA a tax-exempt organization?
Since we abide by the rules set out in section501(c)(7), we are tax exempt. For more details, please speak with a tax representative.
  • IS CAMBA directly affiliated with UNC Charlotte?
No, CAMBA is not a direct affiliate with UNC Charlotte and is its own separate private social organization. We also are in no competition with the alumni chapters that are associated with the university.
  • What kind of events does CAMBA do?
CAMBA hosts events dedicated to bringing band alumni together and also supporting the current PNNMB/basketball band. Such events include football alumni day/weekend, basketball alumni day, tailgating, and casual hangouts at local UNC Charlotte events. Any member in good standing is allowed to participate in these events and activities!
  • Who is eligible to become a member?
Membership in the Association is open to all individuals who were members of athletic bands at UNC Charlotte for at least one season during their time as students and have graduated, transferred, or otherwise left the university.
  • How do you become a member and stay in good standing as a member?
To become a member, you simply do the following: 1. Fill out the registration form and sign (or agree that you have read) the Code of Conduct. 2. Pay your dues annually and continue to pay them on time. So long as you continue to pay your dues on time and abide by the Code of Conduct, you are a member in good standing!😊
  • What are the benefits of being a CAMBA member?
Members of CAMBA will have voting rights (for dues), eligibility to hold office, and access to participate in events and activities held by CAMBA. Most importantly, members of CAMBA will have the opportunity to reconnect and stay connected to fellow band alumni colleagues and friends!
  • Where is the Code of Conduct?
The Code of Conduct can be found on the About Us Mission and Vision section, and also in the New Member registration in the final checkbox before submitting. Please make sure to read and agree to the terms!
  • What if I or someone I know violates the Code of Conduct?
If a member of the association believes another member has violated the code of conduct, it should be reported promptly to the Board of Directors.
  • How much are dues and when do we pay them?
Dues amounts are voted on annually by the general membership, and they are to be paid annually between Dec 1 and Dec 31. Current dues amount is $25.
  • How do I make a donation outside of paying dues?
To make a donation outside of paying dues, you can donate to the General Operations campaign found here and on the Donations page. Please note that this is not a requirement or expectation, but it is greatly appreciated! Any questions about giving to 501c7 organizations should be directed to your tax preparer.
  • What happens if I miss a payment or cannot pay dues on time?
If you miss a dues payment, you will not be a member in good standing and your membership will be "on hold" until you pay your dues amount. This means you cannot participate in CAMBA events until you have paid your dues, then you can become a member in good standing again.
